Partnership exploration – Emma House and The SAFV Centre

Emma House Domestic Violence Service (Emma House) and The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre (The SAFV Centre)  have formed a partnership to explore the opportunity of becoming a merged organisation.

Emma House and The SAFV Centre recognise a strong alliance between the two specialist family violence organisations; they each share similar philosophy, purpose and values in delivering services to women and children impacted by family violence.

Both organisations have long and proud histories dating back to the late 1970’s and were established by passionate women who were leaders in their community, offering support to women experiencing violence when no other services existed.  We aim to preserve our combined histories and strengthen our future.

The boards have signed a Memorandum of Understanding providing an opportunity to work closely together in a considered process to explore the benefits of a more formal alignment of the two organisations. During this time, we will hold consultations with staff, members, clients and stakeholders to gain further input and support our decision making. No decision has been made and any formal merger would be subject to approvals and legal and financial advice.

During this time, it is business as usual with no changes to service delivery or staffing arrangements. Women and children experiencing family violence in our community require robust, sustainable and accessible services across the South West, Wimmera and Barwon areas. Both organisations are committed to a collaborative approach to sustain and enhance the services each provides.

Emma House and The SAFV Centre doors will remain open and we encourage women and children impacted by family violence to contact Emma House or The SAFV Centre in their local area for support.

Further information about the consultations will be provided once completed.
