Emma House

Referrals

The Emma House Legal Program accepts referrals from local service providers for women who are experiencing, or have experienced family violence.

We also accept self-referrals provided that the service user is not already engaged with another legal firm.

Referrals are triaged to provide one-off advice appointments, to help service users identify their legal issue/s, explain their legal rights and provide options or referral pathways for further assistance.

Ongoing legal representation is available only in limited circumstances.

As a specialist community legal centre, we only have limited capacity and triage referrals accordingly. This ensures the most vulnerable service users are prioritised.

Please note that due to increased demand, wait lists are currently in place. If you have means to engage a private solicitor, please consider this as an option, as it allows us to assist those in our community that would otherwise not be able to obtain legal advice.
